NC-08: Kissell concedes, announces for 2008

Thu Nov 30, 2006 at 09:23:48 AM PDT

In an email to supporters yesterday, Larry Kissell conceded his race. He came up 329 votes shy out of 121,000 cast despite having no support beyond the grassroots and netroots. But he'll be back. The email:

I just released this simple statement bringing the amazing 2006 campaign you helped carry so far to an official close. I just had to share it with you, thank you again for all your support, and ask that you join me in looking forward to a better future.

"The fight for the future of this District is too important to postpone another day. That's why I'm running for Congress in 2008 starting right now.

After today's recounts, I offer Congressman Hayes a belated congratulation for his victory now that the votes have been counted.

When I started my run for Congress I said it's not about who you are or how much money you have, it's about what you stand for. The folks who voted for me knew I stood with them.

And while the 2006 election is officially behind us, I recognize that the future is already upon us. My vision of the future is simple, help those who have been pushed aside by the Washington politicians and special interests.

I offer Congressman Hayes my prayers that he return safely to Washington and that he and his family have a blessed holiday."

You know exactly what that means. Let's go again! I'm energized and ready to meet those 327 or so voters we missed on election day many times over during the next two years. Together, we will do this and we will take our Country back!

I look forward to this rematch.
